Mikisato Camping Trip
On saturday, I drove to Mikisato town in Mie
prefecture with some friends to escape the city, and
to soak up the tranquility of the beach. We set off
at 6:00am and took the highway to Yoshino and then
drove along country roads through some breath taking
mountains to our final destination. It took about 4
and a half hours to reach Mikisato, but it was well
worth the drive. Mikisato is a typical country town,
but is set in a stunningly beautiful, picturesque
bay, surrounded by these amazing textured mountains.
The beach is clean and well kept, along with toilet
& shower facilities. We set up camp and quickly
built a campfire, gathering stones from the beach to
use as it's base. The small river at the centre of
the bay was strewn with driftwood, so there was
plenty of fuel for the entire vacation. Later that
evening the lads all helped make some great campfire
cuisine. We are all interested in cooking and put
those skills to good use throughout the entire trip
making Ratatouille, Kebabs, Chicken Stew and of
course the traditional English breakfast. We managed
this with some pretty basic cooking utensils, and all
realized that we needed some better camping equipment
for our next adventure.
